Peter House

Supported Living in Essex

Located in the 8 acres of land on the Peter House site in the Essex countryside.

Our three newly built lodges and self-contained flats offer self-contained supported living accommodation for people who are able to live more independently. The mix of residential and supported living services in the same location offers a care pathway on one site, making it possible to reduce care packages and move to more independent living over time, while staying in familiar surroundings.

Peter House Supported Living

Our newly built lodges have been very carefully designed with safety and style in mind. With underfloor heating, lights concealed in ceilings, lockable kitchens and a high-tech en-suite which includes concealed controls, the accommodation skillfully manages to combine safety and functionality with a sleek modern finish.

All lodges have their own private outdoor area where residents can enjoy spending time in their gardens.

The site also offers a further eight flats, which have been designed to support those stepping down from residential support, before their move into supported living accommodation. The self-contained flats have a kitchen and bathroom which have also been designed with safety and practicality in mind, while also creating a comfortable, modern and homely feel.

Crucially, those living in the supported living accommodation on the Peter House site will have access to high-quality support that focuses on achieving goals and meeting their individual needs. They will also have access to the communal areas and activities at the main Peter House building.

Our approach

At Peter House Supported Living, we focus on positive outcomes and developing the skills and confidence needed to move towards independent living. We believe in taking positive risks which harness the potential and individual preferences of each person, ensuring that the people we support are encouraged to set goals, make progress, and be valued and active members of their local community.

Our team is there to support with everything from learning skills such as self-care, cooking and cleaning, to supporting people to enjoy their local community, attend college and much more.

Over the years, we’ve built a great relationship with the team at Willow Park resource centre, enabling the people we support to access sensory and hydrotherapy space, as well as workshops such as music & movement, drama, arts & crafts, health & wellbeing, computers, cooking and much more. We’ve also established links with local colleges for those wishing to access college courses.

Peter House is located in Kirky le Soken, a small village in the Essex countryside, near to Frinton-on-Sea and Walton-on-the-Naze. Our location gives us plenty of opportunities for lovely days out at the seaside as well as exploring local towns, villages and attractions.

Who do we support at Peter House?

We provide support for people with learning disabilities, mental health and complex needs in the Essex area.

Care pathways

The Peter House site is also home to a residential support service. By having both essential care and supported living services on the same site,  we’re able to support people to move to more independent living as their needs change.

In addition to our team of dedicated support workers, the people we support have access to a trained mental health nurse and an in-house psychologist/forensic psychologist, and a PBS Practitioner , who specialises in PBS training and support for our teams. We have strong relationships with a wider multidisciplinary team, ensuring that we can access high-quality speech and language therapists, Occupational Therapists, LD community nursing teams and psychiatrists depending on need.
